Google recently moved into the No. 3 position among the world’s most valuable companies. Google has been said to have the world’s only truly data-driven HR function, and they call it “people analytics.” One of the data-driven tools that Google uses is Social Sensing Technology, which is showing conclusive evidence that slight changes in behavior, from changing when you take breaks to what lunch tables you sit at, can make you and your team happier, healthier, and more productive.
To help us learn some of these lessons, our guest is Ben Waber, author of People Analytics: How Social Sensing Technology Will Transform Business and What It Tells Us about the Future of Work. Ben is a visiting scientist at the MIT Media Lab, and he is President and CEO of Sociometric Solutions, a management services firm that uses social sensing technology.
Examples discussed:
- Bank of America
- Yahoo
- IBM
